One of the major questions in creating a trust is: "Who can fill what position in the trust?" I've studied trusts for a long time and have seen various discussions on this topic, usually with conflicting conclusions.

I am new to GTEN and this topic may be covered somewhere on the GTEN website, but I have yet to find GTEN's recommendations. I wish there was a thorough written discussion of the mechanics of transferring assets into trust. The whole point is to divest myself of the assets I currently "own" and put them into a trust that I control. How does that happen without me contracting with myself as settler/exchanger and also as trustee?

Is GTEN advocating that the real man contract with the straw man? Or something else?

Please inform me how this maneuver is achieved in GTEN's thinking. Better yet, could you please write up a thorough explanation of how this is done and post it on the website (preferably near the GTEN Sample Trust document), giving the rationale behind who can and can't be parties to the trust and fill the various trust positions? If there is more than one possibility, please elaborate.
